Here Comes the Summer....

Well hello there!
Yes, it's finally arrived. The sun is a-shining and it's hot, hot, hot here in Maxville, hence why I have my shades on today.
So, what's been happening in my life, you ask. Well, I have spent a lot of my time lying on the floor this week. I find that if lie very still, I don't get too hot. You try being in a fur coat when it's 90 degrees outside! I find that the best floor to lie on is in the lounge, because it's that wooden flooring stuff and so long as my big brother hasn't already led his great lump of a body down, making it hot and sweaty, it makes for a lovely cool place to hang out all day.
I've had a few jumps in the river by the front of the house to cool down and I've dried myself off on Mum's sofa a few times, much to her annoyance. But I tell her, you try being in a wet fur coat when it's 90 degrees outside!
Oh and I've had fleas - or so Mum says. I don't think I do. I think she just likes to run around the house, spraying me with stuff. Fortunately I'm a good runner and usually manage to escape.
I sat with Mum the other day watching Emmerdale and she said, 'you are just so happy all the time, aren't you, Max?'
I am. I'm just happy to be alive. So they are my wise words for this week - be happy to just be alive. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter if you're not a good singer, or you don't like school, or you hate your job, you can change all that. What really matters is that your heart is beating, you are here, and just be happy that you are alive. All the rest can wait.

Lots of love
Max

Welcome to My World...

Well hello there, and welcome to my blog. Yes, I am a dog and no, of course I don't type it myself, my mum does that bit for me. I don't have fingers and thumbs, you see, and things could get very messy if I try. Plus, I have a very limited attention span.
So, my name is Max and I'm three years old. This blog will tell you what exciting things I get up to every day and maybe offer some words of wisdom, if I feel like it.
It's a Tuesday today, but that doesn't mean much to me. One day kind of merges in to another when you're a dog. Ask any dog. What does mean much to me is my morning walk. Although I can't tell the time, I know when it's morning because it's when my mum shouts that it's too early to get up when I pounce on the bed with a ball in my mouth, and tells me to go back to sleep. Ha! life's too short for that! I'm up and I want to go out in the field across the road. Mum says it's like having a toddler in the house again. I've no idea what one of those is.
Dad takes me out with my older brother, Pagan - he's a German Shepherd and HUGE! and my sister, Nelly, she's a terrier like me, and she's also the bossiest dog in the world and gets very cross with me if I want to play and she doesn't.
I told you I have a very limited attention span and this can be a problem when I'm out because curiosity often gets the better of me and I get distracted by things like other dogs or a bulrush growing in the river, or sometimes there are ducks in the river and I like to chase them because they have shorter legs than me and can't run as fast as I can. I get told off sometimes because I run off, but hey, life is short and there are so many brilliant things to do and see on my walks. It's no wonder I get distracted!
After my walk, I nap. I nap as often as possible, because I have short legs and they get tired. This is me napping after my walk today. Until next time, I'll leave you with my wise words: enjoy the moment, because it will be gone in another moment:)
Love Max
